The LA Angels have never been able to deliver to their full potential. Despite harboring multiple-time league MVP Michael Trout on their roster for several seasons, the Angels only have a single post-season run to their name. However, with the emergence of Ohtani in 2021 and with hopefully a strong signing off-season, a change could be set to come in. But what about the old guard in Mike Trout? Mike Trout has played in Major League Baseball for 11 years now. Despite turning in glorious hitting performances over the years, has never been able to capitalize those numbers to mean post-season glory. With the player now aged 30, his prime seems to be fast progressing and with the Angels’ front office aware too, there might be a re-jig of their outfield due sooner rather than later.

Mike Trout to move out from center field

Mike Trout may be advancing in age, but that is nothing to say for his performances. With the hitter only accumulating experience as time goes on, his ability seems to be progressing. The Angels, however, seem to want to have a plan in place for contingencies. Reportedly, Trout has been consulted about moving away from his center field duties.

With the athlete now on the other side of the 30-year-old mark, the Angels will want to build for the future. And with an eye on the present too, Trout will be set for his own conversation his own way. The Anaheim Angels are a few steps ahead of him.

With a plan already in place for 2022, it seems as though Trout could be moved away from center field and possibly to either side while Brandon Marsh takes over fielding responsibilities in the middle of the park.

With the season set to be shortened due to the lockout, perhaps a handover of responsibilities will be a bit easier considering that the player is set for a decent amount of game time in the season ahead. And perhaps with Trout’s focus set upon hitting and offensive output, the Angels may well do better even in the post-season.

But what do you think? Could the Angels do better with Trout’s focus solely on offense? Or would you rather not miss out on his defensive contributions, too?
