Is Jalen Milroe the next big thing for Alabama, or just a flash in the pan?

The best QB Prospect.” You don’t get that title without a sweat. And Jalen Milroe has proven why he deserves that title and can be the next Heisman winner. With a solid 50-yard touchdown during the scrimmage, Milroe managed to shock everyone. He rushed and connected with Ryan Williams and landed the hit. Hell, even head coach Kalen DeBoer came out singing big praises.

Nick Kelly took to X on August 10 to mention what DeBoer said about the entire scrimmage session. “It’s been a good consistent pass rush,” DeBoer had said. The Crimson Tide have been very consistent regarding pass rush during the scrimmage. It isn’t a surprise that the Crimson Tide used to be a defensive powerhouse under Nick Saban. However, after DeBoer took over the camp, things changed. DeBoer has always been an offensive mastermind and ensured that the Crimson Tide became an offensive powerhouse. From shifting training times to the morning to switching the entire play style of the team. Even Joel Klatt mentioned, “Alabama has the 2 best offensive lines in the country.” However, all this progress on the offensive end sure made people question the defenses.

Fear not; DC Kane Wommac is here to answer your question. “Keon is a very special talent, and we were very fortunate to be able to have that production,” Wommack had mentioned during a conference. Now, you might wonder who Keon even is. Well, Keon Sabb was Michigan’s trump card. That guy led the Wolverines to a championship win and has enough capabilities that Kalen DeBoer can easily build their entire secondary around Keon. Not only that, but Malachi Moore is also a name you should keep in mind. With around 51 tackles and four pass breaks, Moore was the only returning player for the Crimson Tide after Nick Saban retired. However, the player everyone must keep their eyes on would be DeBoer’s ace.

Is Jalen Milroe the next big thing for Alabama, or just a flash in the pan?

Have an interesting take?

As Emory Hunt put it on the Ross Tucker podcast, “Jalen Milroe is the best QB Prospect.” The 2023 season saw Milroe bring in eight touchdowns and 1200 yards under his belt. He also had a completion rate of around 55.6%. Saban’s playbook focused on a balanced approach and didn’t work well with Milroe’s 2-way capabilities. However, when DeBoer took over, Milroe went from 55% to 70% completion rate.

Even during an interview with Adam Breneman, Milroe agreed he is doing better with DeBoer. “As a quarterback, you know he’s an offensive mind, so I’m able to grow each and every day with him,” Milroe had mentioned. Bama fans have their eyes on the kid. While DeBoer has immense expectations surrounding him, it’s safe to say that he will probably nail it.
