14 February to 16 February 2020 is the NBA All-Star 2020 Weekend. NBA announced a new format for the All-Star Weekend, 2020. This change has come after the tragic death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant. It aims to increase the level of competition throughout the game, provide additional excitement at the finish. It will make the outcome of every quarter count for charity. The changes include a new fourth-quarter format that will honour the late Kobe Bryant. Bryant earned 18 NBA All-Star selections and a record-tying four NBA All-Star Game MVP awards.

 The Previous Format

The 68th edition of the exhibition basketball game played on February 17, 2019. This was the second time that the format was not East/West. Charlotte, North California was the host. The NBA has made a number of smart reforms to its All-Star Game in recent years. This includes diversifying the voting base to select All-Star Game starters right in the nick of time.

It also includes the removal of the traditional East vs. West set-up, now two years gone. Getting rid of the conference battle and letting captains pick each team has been an enormous boon to the All-Star Game.

 NBA All-Star 2020: The New Format

In the 69 NBA All-Star Game (2020), Team Giannis and Team LeBron will compete to win each of the first three quarters. all of which will start with the score of 0-0 and will be 12 minutes long. The game clock will be turned off at the beginning of the fourth quarter. After that, Final Target will be set.

The leading team’s total cumulative score through three quarters and adding 24 points will determine the Final Target The 24 representing Bryant’s jersey number for the final 10 seasons of his NBA career.  Following this, the teams will play an untimed fourth quarter and the first team to reach the Final Target Score will win the NBA All-Star Game.
