The second-seeded Memphis Grizzlies perished in six games in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers. After the Grizzlies suffered an embarrassing 40-point loss in Game 6, a major update regarding 27-year-old Memphis guard Dillon Brooks came to light. Following days of ridicule for Brooks, Grizzlies ace Desmond Bane showered his fellow teammate with unconditional support on Live TV.

A couple of days ago, Memphis star Jaren Jackson Jr. almost broke the internet with his vague tweet, which led Ja Morant and Bane to chime in after Jackson cleared the air. And now, Bane opened up on Brooks’ apparent departure from Memphis.

After their elimination, a report by The Athletic’s Shams Charania stated that the organization would not bring back Dillon Brooks under any circumstances. Charania faced flak for the wording of his tweet and the apparent disrespect he showed to Brooks. This led his teammate, Desmond Bane, to give Brooks the credit he deserves.

While talking to NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith yesterday, Bane shared his admiration for Brooks. Bane said, “First and foremost, we all got a bunch of love for Dillon. He’s one of the first guys in, last guys to leave. I don’t think it’s hard to see what type of competitor he is and what type of effort he lays out on the line every night.” Bane went on to talk about the business aspect of the game and how this is just part of things that happen in the league.

Bane also added how he saw Brooks grow as a father, teammate, and, most importantly, a basketball player. He wished Brooks the best for his future, saying, “So, whatever happens for him, I’ll be cheering. Hopefully, it’s with us but if not, I’ll be rooting for him as long as he’s not in the Western Conference.”
