The Dallas Mavericks were second to none in the Western Conference last year. Much of that team morale and mindset came after the Kyrie Irving trade. The team was seen as a favorite to win it all. The new star’s inclusion however did not go as planned and the team ended up missing the playoffs. But now a former NBA champion is painting a different picture for the franchise.

After a disappointing end to their playoff hopes last season, the Dallas Mavericks made some big changes to shake up their roster. And this former Mavs player?s insight about it does give the team a new perspective.

‘The unit is way more balanced now’

The addition of Kyrie Irving was seen as the solution to all the problems for the Dallas Mavericks. The team was heavily reliant on Luka Doncic to generate offense and it was clear that they needed another star to take some of the load. But Irving was taking his own time to get along with Doncic.

In a recent interview on the podcast, All The Smoke, former Mavs center Tyson Chandler made an appearance and gave his insights into Dallas camp.?

When asked about all the offseason moves and addition of new players to the team, Chandler had this to say: ?I think the unit is way more balanced now. And I think they got a shot to be in the mix now.??Chandler went on to talk about the two stars of Dallas. He even shed some light on the addition of Grant Williams.

The former NBA champion capped it off by saying, ?I love the pieces that they put around them. Because that?s what they were missing last year. You gotta have those pieces that bring together the team.??

But Can Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving make it work?

The Dallas Mavericks have a lot to prove in the upcoming season. And much depends upon the newly formed duo of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic.

No doubt both Kyrie and Luka are amazing talents to have on one?s team. But for them to play together while they complement each other on the floor is key to the team?s success. And with the addition of other players to the team, it will be interesting to see how the team fares the upcoming season.
