Call of Duty is back in the news with the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The consensus following the release of the alpha has been positive and the community seems to be looking ahead to playing the beta and of course, the final release.

Unsurprisingly, comparisons between Black Ops Cold War and the 2019 Call of Duty Modern Warfare have cropped up.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare has some serious problems in its meta

Earlier this year, CoD professional Scump, who is undoubtedly one of the best players of the game, opened up on Modern Warfare. The pro has been very vocal about his claim that Warzone saved Modern Warfare. This might not be the most popular opinion, but Scump, just like his plays, has a way with words.

A lot of other people also feel that Modern Warfare gained more popularity because of Warzone. The game has nerfed important perks like Dead Silence to a degree where it is of little use. As a result, players have resorted to camping more than ever. The easiest thing to do in the game is to sit back and camp.

The game also has problems with the spawning meta, which ruins the competitive gameplay. Moreover, skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) is still a thing for public matches. A lot of players feel it should be restricted to the ranked gameplay.

Will Black Ops Cold War regain the trust of the community?

It might sound harsh, but Cold War will probably get a lot of appreciation for improving some very basic elements like returning the Ninja perk and changing the mini-map. Other basic features like map voting will return in the game and players have expressed their appreciation for it.

Many also feel Call of Duty Cold War Alpha has better gunsmith and perk variety than the entire Modern Warfare game. There are minor changes in the time to kill, but it’s definitely worth it.

However, skill-based matchmaking is still a heated debate where pros like Scump and Nadeshot are against it. And last but not least, Zombies!

Zombies return in the game and the fan expectations are really high from the game mode.

All in all, the latest game is definitely on track to be better than Modern Warfare. Looks like the presence of Treyarch in developing is set to work out very well for Activision.
