Epic Games launched Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 last week, bringing a ton of new content and changes. The update altered the map, giving way to new flooded locations and PvE enemies like loot sharks and marauders. Apart from that, a brand-new battle pass brought fresh cosmetic items, and the Punch Cards are an innovative way to make seasonal progress.

Season 3 has perhaps been the most anticipated in Fortnite, and Epic has delivered the content. The season has swiftly gained momentum, and the developers have no intent to stop. Now, a week later, Epic has rolled out a patch update on all platforms for the third season.

According to Fortnite Status on Twitter, this is a maintenance patch that addresses stability and includes improvements for Party Royale. However, there are some surprise additions that fans will be glad to hear.

A new throwable item and Diplo are coming to Fortnite

Although Epic hasn’t provided detailed patch notes, thanks to FireMonkey on Twitter, for sharing his version of the creator patch notes he received. This weekly update is more than just a minor hotfix.

For starters, the update has added a new throwable item to the game, the Firefly Jar. Leaks were circulating about this throwable since the launch of season 3, and recently its audio files were also leaked.

Firefly Jar is a typical molotov cocktail of sorts, but of course, in unique Fortnite fashion. Players need to catch a firefly that can be found across the map to utilize this throwable. Fortnite recently incorporated innovative fire mechanics due to which flames can spread now. Thus, the Firefly Jar will deal damage to players, as well as structures like trees, by setting them on fire.

Epic is hosting another in-game live show and a movie night later this week, according to the patch notes. As a result, DJ Diplo makes his return to Party Royale. The live show is a premiere of his latest album Diplo Presents: Thomas Wesley, which will also feature Noah Cyrus and Young Thug as special guests. The show kicks off at the Main Stage in Party Royale on June 25 at 9 pm ET / 6 pm PT.
