Dominic Thiem has been etching his name over and over again over this phrase and undoubtedly, he has proven it more than a few occasions.

Dominic Thiem has been making a name for himself in the tie-breakers. Specifically, the recently concluded US Open 2020 is the audience to his dominance in the tie-breaker. Thiem showers all his credit to one and only Novak Djokovic. The Serbian is known for his calm composure under immense pressure and undoubtedly Thiem got himself a great inspiration to look forward to. Simply put, he’s following the age-old structure, ‘to be the best, learn from the best’.

“I think he’s amazing in tiebreaks. He just tries to avoid easy mistakes in the tiebreak. That’s what I also try to do, just put everything in what I can just focus even more than in the normal sets, don’t do any stupidity because I guess that’s super important in these close tiebreaks”, Thiem said.

Dominic Thiem marked a remarkable comeback

The reigning US Open 2020 champion, Dominic Thiem proved his indomitable fighting spirit in the second round of the French Open 2020. Facing Jack Sock of the United States, the Austrian was sailing towards victory. The first two sets were a walk at the park for Thiem. However, Sock came back with an answer in the third set.

A lackluster play from the Austrian granted Sock the opportunity to get back to the game. Hoping to claim the set from Thiem, Sock was displaying some pretty good tennis at the Suzanne Lenglen. Putting up a great fight, he broke Thiem’s service twice to take the game to the tie-breakers.

In the tie-breaker, Sock was continuing his splendid performance and was 6-3 up against Thiem. With one point to pocket the set, Sock was looking confidant of the win. Dominic Thiem was back in business in no time. Surviving three set-points, he went ahead to claim 5 points in a row. Astonishing Jack Sock, Thiem went home with the match taking three sets in a row.
