On March 17 (Tuesday), Pakistan decided to postpone the 5th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to the coronavirus outbreak. Covid-19 is a threat to human species and has affected lakhs of people. All the major events in the world are either suspended or canceled as a precaution measure. On this news, Javed Afridi comes with a wish of continuing PSL 2020 which is opposed by Shoaib Akhtar.

The tournament was in its last phase. The Multan Sultans were to face Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings had to take on Lahore Qalandars in the two semi-finals. The matches were supposed to be held indoors. However, PCB decided to abandon the tournament after the coronavirus cases rose to 304 in Pakistan.

This news didn’t go well with Peshawar Zalmi’s owner Javed Afridi as he was in favor of continuing the tournament. While talking to a leading portal, Afridi agreed that he urged the board to finish the tournament as it was just a matter of 48 hours. He wished for a better conclusion of the PSL 2020. This year, PSL received huge appreciation from the Pakistan crowd. Many key foreign players were a part of the tournament.

Shoaib Akhtar reacts on Afridi’s comment
However, Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistan cricketer completely disagrees with Afridi’s point of view. He slammed Javed Afridi for his insensitive statement. He questioned that who would take the responsibility if the Covid-19 virus spreads in the stadium. Also, he ridiculed the Pakistan Cricket Board for continuing the league till Tuesday also.
“One of the team owners is still saying that these remaining matches should also have taken place. Imagine if this outbreak had spread in the stadium, be it Karachi or Lahore,? Akhtar was quoted as saying by?ProPakistani.pk.

?Honestly, it was a stupid mistake by the PCB to continue the league. Also, I?m pretty sure that they would have kept it running if the case had not emerged. PCB was late about six days with regard to the suspension of the league. Putting people at risk was not a sensible thing to do,? he added.
This is not the first time Shoaib Akhtar has made his remarks on certain issues. He is very active on twitter and often shares his thoughts regarding various instances. Many times his racist and blunt views have made him a target of netizens on Twitter.
