Jannik Sinner‘s misery is not over yet. After multiple clarifications about his doping trial in March, the tennis fraternity still finds the ATP’s judgment partial to him. Amidst this situation, some popular tennis names, including Casper Ruud, came forward to support Sinner. As he shared his opinion on social media, a Venezuelan coach also joined Ruud in showing solidarity with the ATP number one.
Vallverdu supported Casper Ruud’s comments about Sinner’s doping trial. A few days before the 2024 US Open, when Sinner’s doping test failures were revealed, tennis fans expressed their disappointment with the Italian. Sinner tested positive for the banned substance Clostebol in March, which was transmitted to his body accidentally while his former physiotherapist was massaging his legs. While the ATP number one was suspended for a few days and his Indian Wells prize money was revoked, many tennis fans felt he was treated differently than other players, such as Simona Halep, whose career was ruined after testing positive for Roxadustat.

While many well-known names like Roger Federer and Nick Kyrgios questioned the ATP’s integrity in Jannik Sinner’s case, figures like Daniil Medvedev and Andy Roddick came forward in support of the Italian with their reasons. “I just say that I hope this situation can be the same for every player – like every player can defend himself. Because I think what he (Jannik Sinner) did was within the rules. It’s just that the rules are a little bit vague,” Medvedev said in a press conference for the 2024 US Open. In fact, Roddick also aligned with Medvedev’s tone while revealing his support for the 2024 US Open winner. “I care. I think facts matter more than feelings in this scenario,” said the American former number-one.
Tennis players’ support of Jannik Sinner’s doping trial shows their transparency in speaking the truth. At a time when almost everyone was criticizing the Italian, such support restored the fraternity’s faith in the ATP’s management. It also revealed how criticisms often overlook the details of the matter. As Jannik Sinner proceeds to his upcoming tournament after a Grand Slam victory, the fraternity hopes to see him sincere so that he can avoid such an ordeal in the future.
