The likelihood of Max Verstappen getting a home F1 Grand Prix has now picked up momentum. This is because the iconic Zandvoort circuit has got the green light from the authorities.
There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the return of the Netherlands to the F1 calendar. All this is just ahead of a March 31 deadline imposed by Liberty Media for submitting an application.
According to reports from the Kolner Express newspaper, the deal is basically done. The report further stated that a late July race date could be in place for the Dutch GP. However, it could mean sacrificing the German Grand Prix. The organisers of the German race are yet to agree on a new deal with Liberty.

“It is getting closer,” admitted an excited Jan Lammers to Algemeen Dagblad newspaper. The former F1 driver, who raced in the sport between 1979 and 1992, is the spokesman for the Zandvoort race organisers.
“The promoters, and the people who want to invest, are giving gas to the project,” added the 62-year old.

Interestingly, according to the Formula One management, “There will be “no news” about the fate of the 2020 Dutch grand prix on March 31″.
Lammers further stated, “March 31 or April 1 is by no means a crucial make or break date.”
“F1 normally wants to complete the calendar for next year in June, so logic tells us that it has to be done a month earlier. But we are now opting for F1 to be the leader in terms of statements,”.

Hopefully for the sake of the Dutch fans, the race finds its way onto the F1 calendar. Zandvoort has been a mainstay on the calendar from 1952 till 1985 and it would be amazing for a classic F1 circuit to return to the fray.
