The first-ever look at Call of Duty: Vanguard, and it’s not from Activision. The game still awaits its official announcement, which many believe will be on August 19, 2021; but the teaser is already here for the fans.

The official Twitter handle of Call of Duty also “accidentally” leaked a scene from the trailer. The preview includes minute details that are actually a play on the leaks, reportedly leading us to the Western Front.

Surprisingly, it was YouTuber MrDalekJD who tweeted the teaser and not Activision. The YouTuber also states that Call of Duty sent the teaser to him themself.

Some Twitter users also claimed that the teaser hints at the Battle of Merville Gun Battery in June 1994 as they go into detail with the clues in the preview. The story will take place in European and Pacific theaters during World War II.

In the past few days, the images of the game’s title board and many other circulated on Reddit, later taken down. These leaks confirmed that Vanguard, similar to Cold War, will have three editions: a Standard Edition, Cross-Gen Bundle, and Ultimate Edition. Images also included the “open beta” early access screen. This clearly suggests that the game will have an open beta with pre-orders available.

What the officials had to say to the teaser

After the teaser was published on Twitter, the Call of Duty handle had a rather witty reply to it.

Embracing the leaks and rumors, Call of Duty did everything but deny us the confirmation of the game. In the background, we get a panning view of a city in shambles due to war. With fighter jets flying over it, dropping shells. This is considering World War 2, which is the alleged theme.

The developers of the game kept it light-hearted and vague by solely responding with a meme.

With Vanguard next in line, Activision also reportedly working on changes for Call of Duty: Warzone. The patch is likely to come around the same time as Vanguard and will feature a new map “significantly larger” than the current Verdansk map. The new map will be set in WW2 as well in keeping with the theme on Vanguard.
