“Young Players Are Not As Experienced” – Hubert Hurkacz On Big 3 Dominance

One of the most recurring debates in modern tennis revolves around the successors of the Big Three. Most people believe that the younger generation is still not ready to grab the brass knuckles and break the glass ceiling. While names like  Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Daniil Medvedev are routinely tossed around, one young player who’s slowly made his way into these conversations is Hubert Hurkacz.

The Polish youth has been making waves during the past two years. That’s mainly because of his brilliant performances at Indian Wells and Miami Open in 2019. However, he still needs to improve a lot in order to be a true contender.

What did Hubert Hurkacz say? 

Hubert revealed that he is a believer in the potential of the young generation. He was actually rooting for them to beat the Big 3.

“I hope it might be coming soon. Obviously, Rafa, Novak and Roger, they have like unbelievable achievements winning all those grand slams in the last years but I mean the young players are not as experienced as they are but they are trying to improve their game to maybe start stealing the titles from them.”

We wouldn’t leave him at that as we asked him to name some players who he believes are capable enough.

“Well, I don’t know. Hopefully I will improve some aspects and I’ll be able to have deeper runs in the slams. Already Dominic lost a couple of times in the finals, Daniil Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Zverev those are the guys who have made the results so far.”

There is no doubt that Hubert Hurkacz has the potential to measure up to the big three. He’s still pretty young to actually get to the big leagues. The right amount of preparation will certainly help him a lot in his career.
