After having a dismal show in the ICC World Cup, former South Africa captain AB de Villiers finally broke his silence over his selection which came into limelight during the mega event. His conversation with the current captain Faf du Plessis and coach Ottis Gibson got leaked to the media after South Africa’s defeat to India in the World Cup. However, de Villiers took to social media and shared his statement.
AB de Villiers announced his retirement from international cricket in May 2018. At that time, he was asked by a person privately within the Cricket South Africa (CSA) if he wants to play the World Cup. Then he said yes but shared that he did not ask for late inclusion when he talked to Faf du Plessis.
“I made absolutely no demands at all. I certainly did not try to force my way into the World Cup squad on the eve of the tournament and did not expect to be included. There was no burning issue from my side, and no sense of injustice,” shared AB de Villiers.

However, India captain Virat Kohli backed AB de Villiers. Both plays together for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Indian Premier League (IPL).
Here’s what Kohli replied to him,“My brother you are the most honest and committed man I know. It’s been unfortunate to see this happen to you. But know that we stand with you and believe in you. Seeing people enter your personal space has been sad to see and uncalled for. More love and power to you and your beautiful family. Me and anushka are Always here for you guys”.
