The Medium made an impressive debut at the Xbox Games Showcase. It was also one of the few games at the Showcase that genuinely caught everyone’s attention, as it introduces a completely different game mode.

The Medium features a unique dual-reality game mode

The horror title features an entirely unique game mode called ‘dual-reality’. The game’s protagonist, Marianne, has the supernatural ability to tap into the spirit world. This allows her to move beyond the physical realm and experience the horrors that the spirit world holds.

This ‘out of body’ ability of hers is depicted brilliantly in the game. Interestingly, when Marianne is looking for clues, a split-screen experience appears in the game. This showcases her navigating through the spirit world and the normal world simultaneously, which is a commendable feature.

The game’s description reads “Use your psychic abilities to solve puzzles spanning both worlds, uncover deeply disturbing secrets, and survive encounters with The Maw – a monster born from an unspeakable tragedy.”

Along with the sinister visuals, the game’s background score also delivers a hair-raising experience. After all, the musical genius behind the Silent Hill Series, Akira Yamaoka is the one behind it. Arkadiusz Reikowski, known for his work in Blair Witch, also plays a part in this.

In more exciting news, popular voice artist Troy Baker is playing the role of ‘The Maw’ in the game. Troy is the voice behind the popular ‘The Last of Us’ character Joel Miller. Take a look at the video below to see what exactly he brings to the game with his amazing ability.
