Microsoft is set to introduce its most powerful console yet with the Xbox Series X. Countless reviews have already elaborated on the capabilities of the console. However, the latest reviews about its cooling and a comparison with PC performance have started a whole new conversation.
The Series X is much more power efficient than its predecessor. It delivers stable 60 FPS even at 4K, which previous consoles could not. Even after long usage, the bottom of the console reaches temperatures around 77° F.
A majority of the console reaches temperatures ranging from 90°-111° F. Additionally, the top vent that allows the heat to escape recorded around 145° F. The numbers are good for a console that packs so much power. In comparison, the PS4 Pro reached maximum temperatures of around 153° F.

The numbers for the PS5 aren’t out yet, but it appears that there wouldn’t be a lot of difference.

Richard makes a fair comparison of the next-gen Series X and a high-end PC saying that the console, at its heaviest load, will deliver a performance similar to the RTX 2080. While this might be true, with the release of the RTX 3080, consoles have a long way to go.

The 3080 takes gaming experience to a whole new level. PC builds with the 30 series graphics cards will deliver much better resolutions as well as higher frames at a stable pace. With the hardware available for PC customization, top-end builds can be much more powerful than any console to have ever existed. They can be really power efficient too, along with low noise levels and much better cooling with the introduction of liquid cooling systems.
However, it might be true that at the given price levels, consoles might have an advantage over PC builds. The amount of power offered by the Series X at $499 might be unmatched for a long time to come.
