Microsoft’s next-gen consoles, the Xbox Series X and S, are powerhouses, and ‘The Falconeer’ developer Tomas Sala feels the same. He claimed that the Xbox Series X can run it at a higher frame rate and resolution. The Falconeer is an open-world air combat game, featuring fast and brutal aerial dogfights and deep exploration of an incredible fantasy open-world.

The Xbox Series X and S work very well on the 120 FPS mode
The frame rate of a game always impacts the user experience. Higher frame rates enhance animation detail, reduce input lag, and generally allow for a better gaming experience. Specifically talking about The Falconeer, Tomas said that the game renders to the native 4K.
The graphic user interface and the text are native 4K graphics and the 3D world is upsampled from 1800p. The developer confirmed that a major portion of the 3-D world is native 4K and some parts are upsampled.
Actually on the #seriesX , #thefalconeer renders to native 4K with all the GUI and text being native 4K, and the 3D world upsampled from 1800P.
But didn't want get anybody in a hissy, so made it 1800p
But its actually native 4K with some parts up sampled. 1/2— Tomas Sala (@FalconeerDev) October 9, 2020
The Series X can also do a native 4K resolution and 120 FPS. However, it eventually drops in the busy scripted scenes in which a dozen of units zoom out. Tomas admitted that the clouds in the game are ‘technically super weird’ and ‘pretty intensive even on PC.’
All in all, the QHD+ 1800p resolution gives a solid FPS, and the developer is happy with that.
2/2 It can do 4K120 native but it will drop to a 100fps in the sometimes very busy setpieces with dozens of units zooming about. + the clouds are technically super weird and pretty intensive even on PC. So 1800p up sampling gave a solid fps, and that was what makes me happy.

Tomas is not into making “hyperreal next-gen graphics”
The developer is not a big fan of surreal graphics in his game and has other priorities.
“I don’t care about graphics, I care about originality, design, and the best possible presentation of my Art. I like sharp edges, clean simple shapes, I like doing more with less.”
He strongly believes that originality is the actual “next-gen” where every game brings its own unique art.
1/3 So I'll say this: I'm not into making hyperreal "next gen graphics". I don't care about graphics, I care about originality, design, and the best possible presentation of my Art. I like sharp edges, clean simple shapes, I like doing more with less.

2/3 I create landscapes with the simplest shapes, that don't shy away from showing the maker's hand, a triangle here an edge there. That's my hand that made those, that's my art. But I'll use every scrap of technology to imbue those landscapes with color and emotional resonance.

3/3 Today someone like me can create for the best hardware around and create their mindscapes, no AI, procedural or crunched artists needed. Just a artist ,creating worlds you've never seen, never visited as original and individual as one human speck. I call that Next Gen!

Even the community will agree with Tomas on the whole ‘graphics vs FPS debate’. The new AAA games emphasize a lot on supernatural graphics, but gamers now want better FPS and game design.
Despite being a low budget game, The Falconeer is a very promising title with a unique concept and intriguing artwork. It will release on November 10 for the Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
