Xbox is the most popular console brand, according to Google

A recent article on Digital Journal included data collected from Google regarding search results for consoles. The data included search results on YouTube, Google Images, and Google Shopping. According to the data, Xbox takes the cake for the most searched gaming console in the world. The popular brand topped the list in 24 out of 55 countries.

In terms of the most recent consoles in the Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5 and the Nintendo Switch, the blue side grabs a win in world Google Web and News Searches. However, Xbox dominates in categories like Google Shopping, YouTube and Images.

PlayStation and Nintendo dominate sales

Even though the Microsoft owned brand has gained a foothold in the online popularity department, it hasn’t properly translated to sales. Both the PlayStation 5 and the Nintendo Switch has comfortably outsold the next-generation consoles from Xbox. The Switch released in 2017, and it might soon reach the 100 million sales mark. The PlayStation 5 recently surpassed the 13.4 million mark. However, the Xbox Series X|S console has just passed the 8 million mark in October 2021. The Green side has lagged a lot behind its competitors, even though it has some stellar features like Xbox Game Pass and many more.

In the end, it seems like Xbox might have to suffice with the crown of the most popular console brand in the world for now. However, with the release of some brilliant first party exclusives soon like Halo: Infinite, the company’s next generation consoles might see a sales rise in the future.
