The Xbox showcase in July revealed a few brand new titles coming up on the Series X. That included Halo: Infinite, which broke the internet later on with memes. Both PS5 and Xbox are going head to head this year with brand new consoles up for release. Microsoft has been quiet, for some time now, about the console’s future and left many asking for more. People want to know the price, the release date, and also when both consoles will be available for pre-order. But some of Phil Spencer’s recent comments have the community speculating if there is an event lined up in August!

Making an appearance on a podcast by YouTube channel iJustine, Phil Spencer made some interesting comments. ‘

“I’m encouraged to be able to talk more about it – should be August. I think August we’ll have more to say on that.”

He specifically was talking about ‘backward compatibility’ in Xbox. This initiative will optimize games from previous generation consoles to be compatible with the next-gen machines. Yet, this comment later prompted many to believe that Xbox was planning for an August event. Fans of the franchise also believe this might be the launch event for Xbox Series S. The Series S (Lockhart) is, reportedly, an iteration of the Series X, with less powerful specifics. There were previous rumors about it and the timing is uncanny for many to believe this might be it!

What to expect from an XBOX event?

All these months, XBOX has presented us with some news or the other. June was reportedly set to be the launch of Series S, but the chaotic year we’ve had resulted in a delay. July brought us the Xbox Showcase with 22 new titles being announced. From August, we can expect a fair amount of information to drop. Firstly, ‘backward compatibility’ – how it’s going to work and which titles are coming back. Next, we have Project xCloud.

We know very little about it right now but xCloud will be an integral part of the Xbox series, in the future.

Gamepass is another news we are waiting for patiently. Of course, fans want to know what titles will be available in the online shop and its streaming facilities.

So August might be full of news from Microsoft in its race with Sony’s PlayStation 5! Starting from a price reveal, let’s hope the fans get exactly what they want to be in front of their TVs for the next 5 years or so.
