On Twitter, Xbox hilariously trolled Facebook’s new parent company by revealing its plans for a new name. However, it seems like the brand might run into some trouble with an extreme sports event, which shares the same name.

Xbox hilariously reveals plans to change its names to XGames

Facebook unveiled its next chapter by rebranding its parent company to Meta. With the corporate umbrella containing platforms like Instagram and Whatsapp, it seems like Meta will be at the forefront of the emerging metaverse technology. With emphasis on Virtual Reality, it looks like the future might look straight out of the world from popular science fiction novel, Ready Player One.

Twitter was on fire yesterday following the reveal from CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Many trolls included jokes about rebranding, while others poked fun at the new metaverse, which they might be a part of soon. Microsoft owned Xbox also shared a rather hilarious update on its Twitter profile by announcing plans to change its name to XGames. However, it looks like the company have to talk to the real X Games before a rebrand like this.

X Games responds to the potential brand change

Following the tweet, extreme sports events organizers X Games responded to the tweet. The annual sports event hosted by ESPN replied to the tweet by posting a screenshot which shows that Xbox can’t change its username to XGames because it’s used by X Games. This seems to have put an end to all the conversations of this rather weird yet hilarious attempt at rebranding from Xbox.

Xbox takes the cake this week for one of the more funnier tweets/memes regarding the Facebook rebranding. While it might not change its name for real, XGames isn’t a bad shout for a service the company might introduce in the future. However, we might have to wait a long time to see XGames happen in the Xbox pipeline.
