Following months of anticipation, the Xbox Series X/S and the PlayStation 5 have finally hit the stores. Both the consoles offer their own distinctive features that attract two different sets of gamers.

Microsoft aspires to expand its eco-system with subscription services like the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Sony, on the flip side, ensures that the PlayStation community always has the most exciting first-party titles at its disposal. Accordingly, the competition between both the console giants is as close as possible.

Regardless of this rivalry, Xbox Head Phil Spencer didn’t refrain from praising the PS5’s DualSense controller. In an interview with The Verge, he said, “I applaud what they did with the controller, not actually for — well, I shouldn’t say not for the specifics of the controller, but more than just the specifics of the controller.”

Although Phil is proud of Xbox’s subscription models, he believes such innovations from its arch-rival are a learning point for him.

“I think for all of us in the industry, we should learn from each other and the innovation that we all push on, whether it’s distribution of business model like Game Pass, or controller tech, or the Wii back in the day, which clearly had an impact on us when we went off and did Kinect and Sony did the Move.”

One of the biggest highlights of Sony’s next-gen console is its DualSense controller. With the right support from game developers, the DualSense can significantly improve the gaming experience on the PS5.

It has a long list of features, including a built-in microphone, a headphone jack, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers. PS5 exclusives like Demon’s Souls and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales are already using the controller to the best of its abilities.

Surprisingly, it works equally well with some third party titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Fortnite, thanks to Treyarch and Epic Games, respectively.
