The Xbox Games Showcase introduced the world to games like ‘Halo: Infinite’, ‘The Medium’, and ‘Forza’, among others. Though the event had some major announcements, there were still more in the roster. Xbox recently announced that it will participate in the Tokyo Game Show event and has some exciting announcements planned.
The official Xbox Blog reads, “Tokyo Game Show is one of the world’s biggest celebrations of video games and culture and Xbox is confirmed to participate this year. The 2019 event attracted more than a quarter of a million attendees to enjoy new games and entertainment experiences. This year, the show is moving from the halls of Makuhari Messe to an exclusively digital showcase, where the latest gaming news and titles will be unveiled by some of the world’s top studios over four days from Sept 24-28.”

Tokyo Game Show celebrates and showcases games and content by Japanese creators and developers every year. Microsoft’s decision to be a part of is most likely a move to appeal to its fanbase in the east. The event will feature more information about the latest games, content curated by Xbox’s Japanese partners, and more.
Xbox shares its agenda for the Tokyo Game Show
Although, there is one catch. There won’t be any announcement regarding the upcoming Xbox Series X, something they have explicitly mentioned it on their agenda for the event.
What to expect:
- A celebration of Japanese game creators
- The latest updates coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox Game Pass for PC, Windows 10 and Steam
- Creativity from the Japanese Minecraft creator community
- A review of first- and third-party announcements from recent months
- No new next-gen news
That’s disappointing news for the fans who are dying to hear more about the pre-orders or the price of the console. The showcase will broadcast in Japanese, so it’s a good time to brush up on your translation skills.
Microsoft should also consider announcing the Xbox Series S, considering it is no longer a secret. Multiple leaks have hinted towards its existence over the past few months. They have also mentioned it in their Game Pass packaging, which has considerably stirred up the fans.

Xbox chief Phil Spencer had also hinted towards a possible August event. But since that never happened, we may see it in September. The latest leaks suggest that PlayStation has planned its event for September 9. If it turns out to be true, there may be an Xbox announcement shortly after (or before).
The ‘Xbox Tokyo Game Show Showcase 2020’ will take place on September 24, Japan time.
