Not many wrestlers these days come from wrestling backgrounds. Yes, there are always exceptions; however, no two men had more impact on the pro-wrestling industry like Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle did.
Angle created history when he won the gold medal at the Olympics ’96 and Brock Lesnar became the NCAA champion back when he was still in college. Both the legends had a lot of ‘wrestling’ prowess before ever stepping inside the squared circle.

And the in-ring chemistry between the two heavyweights was on the next level, as whenever the two collided, the WWE Universe never went home disappointed. Eventually, Angle again created history when he made Lesnar tap out from his Ankle Lock.
Last year, the WWE Hall of Famer appeared as the special guest on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s ‘Broken Skull Sessions‘ podcast where he simply blasted the accolades between him and Lesnar.
While speaking about Lesnar, Angle noted that back when Lesnar started in WWE, he said that the difference between a gold medalist and an NCAA champion is unreal.
“There’s a big difference between Olympic Gold medal and NCAA. Anybody with the right frame of mind knows that. NCAA Champion is great, but there’s a big difference.”
Eventually, Angle admitted that all of his past notions were laid to rest when he met ‘The Beast‘ inside the squared circle, and although being bigger and heavier than Angle, he moved as quickly as Angle.
The two champions produced arguably one of the best WrestleMania matches at ‘Mania XIX where the two wrestlers met for the WWE Championship and Brock Lesnar suffered a devastating concussion.
Eventually, the young beast won in a classic one-on-one match.
Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley share the same amateur wrestling background
As mentioned above, before becoming a pro-wrestler, Lesnar was a well-versed amateur wrestler. Similarly, former WWE champion Bobby Lashley is a record-holder amateur wrestler from his past.
