However, before that, the league suffered an enormous loss as a 31-year-old player who played in the NFL for a long time before switching to XFL passed away. Dwayne Johnson shared a post to mourn the loss of the athlete who passed away at a young age.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Sea Dragon defensive end, Chris Smith passed away on Monday, April 17th. It saddened football fans after learning about the loss of the 31-year-old’s death.

XFL holds a special place in the heart of The Rock and the athletes in contention. Hence, it made DJ sad when he learned about the passing away of 31-year-old Sea Dragon defensive end Smith. He shared the picture on his social media with a poignant message for the late athlete and his family.

The Rock wrote, “I was so sorry to hear this news. Heartbroken for Chris’ family. Our entire XFL universe sends it love, light, strength & mana to the Smith family. Stay strong. We are here. dj”

Smith signed with the XFL team Seattle Sea Dragon this year on March 9th and played five games in the league. Prior to jumping the XFL ship, the 31-year-old was a part of the NFL and played in Tony Khan’s Jacksonville Jaguars from 2014 to 2016.

Moreover, he also spent one time in several NFL teams like Cincinnati Bengals in 2017, Cleveland Browns from 2018 to 2019, Carolina Panthers in 2020, Las Vegas Raiders in 2020, Baltimore Ravens in 2021, and Houston Texans in 2021.
