Kanako Urai, who goes by the name Asuka, is a true talent and the legends know it. A WWE Legend and Hall of Famer recently praised the Japanese professional wrestling star for her tremendous wrestling performance. He mentioned Urai is one of the top female stars in WWE right now. WWE signed her in 2015 for the white and gold brand and shifted her to the main roster in 2017. Since then, The Empress of Tomorrow has fought her way to the top of the ladder and proved her worth multiple times.
Asuka has the potential to be the Roman Reigns of Women’s wrestling
In the Oh You Didn’t Know Podcast #41, Road Dogg complimented Asuka’s in-ring skills. According to Dogg, Urai is a “magnanimous star” and is “incredible.” The Senior Vice President of Live Events loves how she “represents herself via her verbal skills.”

Talking about the incredibly talented Asuka, Dogg says “she should be the Roman Reigns of Women’s wrestling right now.” He also mentioned that she doesn’t have top mic skills, but that won’t be a major factor in her growth.
“I think it’s totally ok if she spoke in her native tongue and we subtitled it. I think it would be totally fine how we do it now. She just goes off and you don’t know what she’s saying, but you know she’s saying something that ain’t nice.” said the WWE Hall of Famer.

The former WWF Intercontinental Champion further added, “With her work and her grasp mentally of putting together a match and keeping her character strong in the match, yet being selfless and selling for everybody. Probably the best female wrestler in the world. And I know people will doubt that.”

Asuka’s WWE career
As mentioned above, WWE hired The Empress of Tomorrow in 2015 for their developmental brand, NXT. Within a year, she dominated the NXT female roster and became the longest-reigning NXT Women’s Champion in the history of WWE, holding the title for 510 days.

The company moved Urai to the main roster in 2017. Since then, she has become an unstoppable force. With several WWE accolades under her belt like NXT Women’s Championship, WWE Raw Women’s Championship, WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship, and WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, Urai has made history by winning the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble in 2018.
The Empress of Tomorrow was also a part of one of the iconic women’s rivalries in the history of WWE. Her feud with Ronda Rousey’s conqueror, Becky Lynch, has given many jaw-dropping moments to the WWE Universe.
