Top WWE Superstar Lays Down an Indirect Challenge to John Cena for WrestleMania: “I Know He’s Training and Looking Over the Roster”

Bobby Lashley has come a long way since his WWE return in 2018. Many believed he would become the next big name in WWE, but unfortunately, that never happened during his first run. However, now Lashley has won against big names like Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, etc in his second run. 

Lashley was a one-time world champion during his first run in WWE when he won the ECW Championship. He had impressed everyone in WWE, including Vince McMahon, during his first run like he is doing now. 

While Lashley has defeated various big names in WWE, he is still yet to win against John Cena. Both superstars faced each other in 2007 at the Great American Bash for the WWE Championship where Cena defeated Lashley. The rematch never happened, as Lashley left WWE soon after the match.

Recently, in an interview with Graham GSM Matthews Lashley talked about Cena. He said, “Cena’s always one of those guys where come WrestleMania time. He’s out in his gym doing those 800-pound squats getting ready for it, I know he is.”

 He also added, “I know he’s doing a lot of stuff with the movies and everything like that, but I know he’s training and looking over the roster and saying, ‘Who can I go over there and do something with?’ I hope my name is on his list because of course I’d like [to face] him also.”(H/T Bleacher Report)

Lashley claims that even though John Cena is busy with his movies, he is side-by-side training to return at WrestleMania 38. Cena was last seen at SummerSlam 2021 in a losing effort against Roman Reigns. There have been no rumors about Cena returning and challenging Lashley or anybody on the roster. But never say never Cena might surprise the WWE Universe. 

What are John Cena’s plans during WrestleMania 38?

The 16-time WWE Champion John Cena has never missed a WrestleMania when he was a full-time wrestler in WWE. Even when he became part-timer, Cena appeared on WrestleMania for a segment. 

However, he was not seen at last year’s WrestleMania, and even this year; it is unlikely we will see Big Money John at the greatest show of the year. He said on Ellen Show recently, “I don’t think if I’m gonna make it this year.”

There are great movie projects lined up for John Cena and he wants to keep his attention towards the same. But it’s not the end for Cena. He loves WWE and will never make his fans upset and fans hope he will come back to WWE to win his record 17th world title someday.
