Paul Heyman Claims WWE Superstars Are More Popular Globally Than LeBron James, UFC Fighters and Other Sports Stars

Paul Heyman is one of the greatest minds in pro-wrestling/WWE history. Fans consider his creation of ECW as the start of the popular attitude era. Whatever he speaks in interviews and podcasts, he is taken seriously by wrestling fans and the industry as a whole.

Recently, Heyman was on a podcast, The Masked Man Show with Kaz, where he was promoting Royal Rumble, which is on this Saturday 29th January 2022. There he said some things that may not sit well with some people, but they are facts. 

Kaz asked Heyman about his opinion of fans repeating along with him when he introduces Brock Lesnar. He wasn’t that amazed by people in the USA repeating along with him.

However, he recalled a memory of when WWE went to Saudi Arabia for the first time and he was confused to do the introduction. Brock Lesnar told him to do the introduction, and it amazed Heyman to see WWE’s popularity in Saudi Arabia. It shocked him to see the global distribution of WWE as a brand outside the USA and North America.

Heyman said, “If LeBron James walks down the street in Paris or Rome, he could pretty much not get (bothered), it would be like Justin Bieber walking down the street. It would be like, Oh my God, it’s LeBron James.”

He further added, “The biggest sports stars in America can go elsewhere and not get that much bothered.” He also said, “That doesn’t exist with WWE superstars. They work everywhere, we are everywhere.”

Heyman thinks WWE’s global distribution is extremely under-reported and under-appreciated. Many other sports leagues or companies like NBA, NFL, UFC are more popular within the North American continent, unlike WWE, whose distribution globally is very strong.

Because of this reason, WWE can host a show in any country and get a massive turn-out from the fans.

Paul Heyman wants a WrestleMania on Mars

While addressing the global popularity of WWE, unlike any other sport, Paul Heyman recalled a joke he often tells people. He said, “When Elon Musk colonizes Mars, the first entertainment on Mars would be WWE.”

This is how big WWE is, as Paul Heyman describes. Heyman said he wants to be present in the main event at WrestleMania at one of the three venues – Yankee Stadium, The Moon, and Mars. The popularity of WWE is the reason the company is still around in many countries.
