The meme of John Cena and Dwayne Johnson speaking Chinese took the internet by storm a couple of years ago. The meme features both WWE Legends speaking the Chinese language or at least attempting to sound like they are, but fans seem to have approved of one and not the other.
Though the meme was popular, quite a few WWE fans did not like The Rock mocking the Chinese language.

John Cena vs. Dwayne Johnson speaking Chinese meme
The incident of both the WWE superstars speaking in the Chinese language took place quite a while ago. However, the meme related to the incident surfaced majorly in the years 2021 and 2022.
The meme consists of two parts. The first part is The Chain Gang Soldier speaking in Chinese. “You want the Chinese version, I’ll give you that too [ Continues to speak Chinese] ” says The 16-Time World Champion.
Being a WWE ambassador, knowing Chinese has helped Cena to gain appreciation from his Chinese fans, but also fans have put his love and respect for China and Chinese people to the test following a controversy.
The second part of the meme features The Most Electrifying Man in All Sports Entertainment pretending to speak the Chinese language. “Let The Rock tell you in Chinese. [imitates speaking Chinese] Jung Bong Ding Dong hit Stone Cold Ayeeee”.
Flex Kavana, pretending to speak Chinese and mocking the language, offended some WWE fans. While, fans have praised Cena for his knowledge of the Chinese language.

It is a racist joke, it’s poking fun at the way the Chinese language is pronounced. If it’s not racist it’s definitely a prejudiced joke

How did the meme originate?
The above-mentioned trending meme featuring The Champ and Rocky Maivia has different sources. Both the incidences occurred fifteen years apart.
The ‘Cena’ part was taken from one of the Red Brand’s episodes of the year 2015. On the June 22 episode of Monday Night Raw, fans witnessed Kevin Owens (then the WWE NXT Champion) interrupting The Doctor of Thuganomics (then the WWE United States Champion) and trash-talking him.

After a while, KO talks in the French language to The Prototype. Calling The Prizefighter a disrespectful su*k-bag, The Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect Soldier replies to Owens in the same language. Moreover, he also includes Chinese in his speech to KO and accepts his challenge to face him at Battleground for The US Title.
The ‘Johnson’ part of the trending meme took place in the year 2000. On an episode of SmackDown during the Attitude Era, The Great One and Mick Foley had a conversation over an incident that involved Stone Cold Steve Austin. Foley was accusing The Rock of running over Steve Austin. But The Rock was adamant over the fact that nothing sort of that happened.
