“Unfortunately I am medically disqualified to compete this Friday on #Smackdown I don’t like to miss any shows as everybody knows but I promise I’ll be back soon,” McIntyre tweeted.
McIntyre was supposed to team up with Sheamus and take on the winners of The Usos vs Elias and Matt Riddle, who fought for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship on Monday night’s RAW.

While many fans were quick to wish him a speedy recovery, some speculated other reasons that may have influenced his announcement.
Sheamus leads recovery prayers for ‘medically’ unfit Drew McIntyre
The Celtic Warrior may have had some beef with the two-time WWE Champion in the past, but they have buried the hatchet. McIntyre had helped the Sheamus-led Brawling Brutes against Roman Reigns‘ Bloodline recently. Naturally, Sheamus showed concern for his colleague.
“We need ya lad, hurry back,” Sheamus tweeted.

A fan also called him a workhorse, who has been “constantly putting out bangers”, but stated that his health was of utmost importance.
You've been a workhorse constantly putting out bangers for us fans and we appreciate it. Wishing a speedy recovery! 🙏🏼

Another Twitter user said this would be the first in-person show and would miss McIntyre’s presence.

Meanwhile, a fan who was planning to surprise his kids for his son’s seventh birthday, said they’ll be “bummed”.

Is McIntyre’s absence part of the storyline?
Over the years, the WWE has had some absurd storylines. In fact, it has surprised its fans by doing the unthinkable at times. Just when the plot looks too comfortable and predictable, Triple H and his team throw in a curve.
So, when McIntyre tweeted about his condition, a fan was quick to assume that it was part of the storyline.
“It’s storyline my guy. They were never going to give drew and sheamus vs usos away on free tv. That’s the match for the rumble,” the fan’s tweet read.

The tweet was in response to another user who stated that RAW and SmackDown should take place every other week. He said that it would allow athletes to get more rest.
And another one down, idk is it just me or should smack down and raw be like every other week? That way they get more rest and also more time to tell better stories especially on Monday night raw
