“The People’s Champion” Dwayne The Rock Johnson is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. His success in WWE after aligning himself with The Nation Of Domination is very notable. Also, his transition from a pro-wrestler to becoming an actor in Hollywood is noteworthy. 

One of The Rock’s first friends in WWE was Mark Henry. Both of them signed with the company during a similar time. In an interview with Vlad TV, Henry had recalled some of his memories of The Rock and talked about how they had a good time and trained together.

He talked about how The Rock came back from Canada, where he used to play football for the Calgary Stampeders. Henry revealed how The Rock knew he won’t make more money there and came back to the USA. Henry said, “He came back here with $7 in his pocket”

Rock signed the WWE contract with very little money in his pocket and did not have a place to live. Mark Henry came to his aid. Henry said, “So me being already at the training facility, I said man move in with me until you get on your feet. Once you get on your feet you get own place and he moved in with me and ended up never getting the place.”

Henry also added, “We lived together and trained together and ate together and we traveled around and entertained ourselves together.”

Mark Henry helping The Rock by giving him a place to stay made them the best of friends, which they cherish till now. Because of this, both went to Memphis at Jerry Lawler’s territory to perfect their performance. 

Henry and Rock were the first two WWE wrestlers whom Vince McMahon ever sent to a developmental territory. Before that, there was no such thing as a developmental territory for WWE.

Mark Henry and The Rock are still in touch with each other

The Rock, even though he has become a big Hollywood star, never forgets from where he started. He still believes WWE is his home. He has always remembered all the people who have helped him during his bad days.

Henry said that he and The Rock talk occasionally. He said, “He’ll call my kids and say happy birthday. I talk to his daughter and try to mentor her, now that she is training at developmental system down at Orlando.”

Henry and The Rock became close friends during their initial days at WWE and till this share a great bond. The Rock still connects with all his friends from WWE, even though not being on the road with them, which shows how he has forgotten no one.
