This year’s Men’s Royal Rumble Match had mixed reactions after the show ended, as it did not have any big moments and major surprise returns. Shane McMahon fully booked the Men’s Royal Rumble match that Brock Lesnar won from the coveted number 30 spot. Despite the dismal Rumble, ‘The Prodigal Son’ seemed to have had his hands full backstage.

Fightful Select recently shared a story about Randy Orton giving a verbal cue to Shane McMahon backstage before entering the ring. As per the plans, Randy Orton was going to enter at 28 and Shane at 29.
As Orton was ready to hit the ring at his given spot, Shane’s music played, and Orton had to send him a verbal cue. This explains why he ran out from the side after quite a while. Fan saw a little displeasure on Shane McMahon’s face as he entered the ring.

It also reported that after Orton gave the verbal cue, he started laughing at the error of the mixing of entry numbers that happened. It really would have been an epic moment had Orton walked out to McMahon’s theme music in his hometown.
Meanwhile, the veteran got back into character and walked out as Voices played in the background, informing the crowd that ‘The Apex Predator’ would emerge at 29.
Both superstars got eliminated by Brock Lesnar.
What’s next for Shane McMahon?
After the mixed reviews of the Royal Rumble match, many backstage officials and talents were unhappy and demotivated. WWE had planned a full heel authority storyline for Shane McMahon till WrestleMania 38.

However, one week after the Royal Rumble, WWE let Shane McMahon go. It is unclear whether they have fired him or kept him aside for the time being because of his Rumble booking.
Many legends believe it is not the end of Shane McMahon and he will return to WWE tapings soon.
