With an experience of almost 14 years in the wrestling business, D-Von Dudley finally retired from WWE last month. Upon his departure from the company, rumors about him having a feud with Triple H gained traction all over social media.

It was suggested that his dispute with The Game was the main reason for his alleged firing from the company. Dudley — real name Devon Hughes — was one-half of the WWE’s famous The Dudley Boyz. The WWE Universe also knew him for his producer role in the company. The wrestling legend answered the decisive question during an important announcement.

Hughes, who underwent a major surgery last year, took to his Twitter handle on 19 January 2023 to announce his retirement from WWE. His departure from the wrestling company came as quite a shock to the fans. As mentioned above, rumors claimed that he and Hunter got into a dispute over him not getting to attend an ECW Reunion show. Also, HHH allegedly threatened to fire him over this matter.

In an exclusive interview for WrestlingNews.co, the 50-year-old star clarified all the falsehoods. He told the truth about his departure from the company. He said he has “no issues” with The Cerebral Assassin and The Game “did not threaten to fire” him.

The WWE Legend said, “What a lot of people don’t know is I did not speak to Hunter directly during that, but no, he did not threaten to fire me. It was just again, you know, miscommunication on the dirt sheet writers or whatever, but that was not the case. Again, I can’t really go into detail right now.”

D-Von Dudley is a Triple H guy

During the interview, the former WWE star, who was a 2018 inductee of the WWE Hall of Fame, claimed to be “a HHH guy.” He stated he is thankful to The King of Kings for “everything” he did for him. He stated he became “a producer” because of Hunter. HHH helped him to continue being a part of the company.”

When Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley said their goodbyes in 2016 “as talent,” The Connecticut BlueBlood suggested Hughes take up the role of a producer in WWE. On the night of his “farewell to the Dudleys,” Triple H pulled him aside and asked him if he would like to fill the role of a producer in the company.

The WWE Hall of Famer, in his response, said he was “not ready to hang it up yet”. He also said that “there’s still a lot left in the tank” for him. He wanted “to wrestle and maybe help some of the younger talents, like Apollo Crews.” But, unfortunately, the circumstances at that point did not allow that to happen.

Therefore, when HHH offered him a producer’s job, he took it because “working with WWE” was his “childhood dream.”
