Paul Heyman managed to bail out Roman Reigns from an uncomfortable situation twice within the same night. He did it once in kayfabe as The Tribal Chief’s Wise Man and later used CM Punk to rescue the current champion. The first allowed Reigns to retain his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes. The second helped him dodge a tricky question from a journalist.
The question was asked during Reigns’ post-match press conference that he attended alongside Heyman. Reporter Nick Hausman asked Reigns about WWE’s potential sale. According to reports, WWE is in advanced talks with the UFC’s parent, Endeavor Group, for a sale.
While the question took Reigns by surprise, he managed to steer clear of controversy by answering about his performance. This is when Heyman took over and used his wit to hit back at the reporter.

Paul Heyman references CM Punk, calls out reporter for causing trouble
After Reigns stated he was oblivious to the recent reports, Paul Heyman called out the reporter for initiating trouble at press conferences. “…he knows he has a bad habit of asking bad question in press conferences,” Heyman said as others, including Reigns, laughed.

For the unversed, Heyman referred to an infamous incident involving one of his former collaborators, CM Punk in 2022. At the 2022 AEW All Out Media Scrum, CM Punk fired a series of insults against his colleagues, eventually resulting in his suspension from the company. Punk’s comments about his former friend Colt Cabana, and fellow talents Hagman Page, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega weren’t well received. This resulted in a backstage brawl, resulting in the suspension of The Elite and Punk.
While The Elite- a stable comprising The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega- made their return to AEW, CM Punk has since not made any television appearances.
The Wise Man was quick to sniff the complexities that would have come with an undesired answer and called it out straightaway, saving his Trible Chief again.

Earlier in the evening, Roman Reigns walked out with Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman as he set out to defend his title against Cody Rhodes at the main event of WrestleMania 39. It was a match for the ages as the two superstars gave it their all. After a strong start by Reigns, the American Nightmare caught up and gained control of the match bit by bit. He even managed to start the count several times but wasn’t successful.
During the match, The Tribal Chief received reinforcements from stablemates Jimmy and Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa. But perhaps the biggest help came from Heyman. Using his vantage, Cody Rhodes managed to hit Reigns with a series of Cross Rhodes, his finishing move. While the champion looked in trouble, Heyman distracted the match official, allowing Sikoa to deliver a Samoan Spike to Rhodes, forcing him to loosen his grip on Reigns.
