The long and drawn-out saga of WNBA star Brittney Griner’s detention in Russia ended last week. Griner arrived in the U.S. on Friday, bringing an end to negotiations between Moscow and Washington over her release.

Russian authorities held the Olympic gold medal winner in Moscow over charges of carrying cannabis in the country. Griner is one of the premier athletes in women’s sports and her star power led to strong calls for her release from many athletes.

She enjoys an immense fan following and players from other sports like to follow her achievements on the court. As a top-level player in WNBA, Griner interacted with many other popular stars from other noted athletes.

In fact, Griner once posed alongside former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan who now wrestles for AEW as Bryan Danielson.

In 2015, a photo of the two stars surface on Twitter and it made for quite a viewing. Owing to her height, the basketball player easily dwarfed Bryan Danielson.

Brittney Griner is an icon in the sport of basketball. She has won two Olympic gold medals and in 2014 led her team, Phoenix Mercury, to the most wins in WNBA history en route to their third league title.

Moreover, she is the only collegiate player who participated in the 2011 US National Team’s European Tour and is an 8x WNBA All-Star.

Hence, it is quite common for Griner to interact with some of the big stars from the sports entertainment industry

With WWE being one of the leading brands in that genre, it is no surprise that Griner has interacted with a few WWE stars as well.

In 2015, the NBA side Phoenix Suns posted a photo of the WNBA star alongside former WWE Champion Bryan Danielson on their Twitter account. In the picture, the 6ft 9inch Griner easily dwarfs Danielson as the two pose together.

The 5ft 7 inches Bryan is by no means the tallest pro wrestler out there, but the contrast in their heights is astonishing.

The 210 lbs Bryan is used to seeing men larger than him in the ring, but seeing a female athlete this tall would have been a different experience for the current AEW star.

This isn’t also the only time Griner has met with stars from WWE. Popular female WWE stars Nikki and Brie Bella also met with Brittney Griner during an NBA game. Griner has also posed alongside WWE legend Mark Henry in the past before an episode of Monday Night RAW in 2013.
