Being a top athlete comes with its fair share of scrutiny and criticism. It means they have to deal with a lot of noises from the outside as well as take care of what is going on in their personal lives. At the same time, they also have to ensure they perform to their set standards. But sometimes it becomes important to prioritise one’s mental health. That is exactly what U.S Olympian, Simone Biles, did at last year’s Olympics.

The Gymnastics superstar withdrew from individual all-around competitions at the Tokyo Olympics to focus on her mental health.

Biles made a brave choice given the stage and stakes. She decided to prioritize her mental well-being over competing at the Olympics. Her decision inspired a lot of people, including the top WWE superstar, Bianca Belair.

In an interview with ViBe & Wrestling, in 2021, she said, “Simone Biles is so inspiring on what she did specially in such a big stage and she allowed herself to be vulnerable and put her mental health before her physical abilities.”

Belair also gave people around the world a reality check, saying it is okay to put one’s mental health first. The current RAW Women’s Champion also admired Biles for her courage. The EST stated, “The message is that athletes are humans and it is so hard mentally. We have to look at her and admire her for what she did – because there are times as athletes, we felt something was not going well but we kept on pushing and it’s ok to put your mental health first.
