The much-hyped Elon Musk versus Mark Zuckerberg is currently the talk of the town. After Zuckerberg came forward and launched Twitter’s direct competition, Threads, social media users, and celebrities have been in a frenzy. While several WWE superstars such as Sami Zayn joined Threads, Seth Rollins recently opened up his mind on Threads and revealed a special journey he plans to embark on.
Recently, during an interview with Ryan Satin, Rollins spoke about his views on the virtual world of social media. He instead suggested an old method endorsed by bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger. ‘The Visionary’ heavily criticized social media apps and instead revealed his desire to enter a period of detox.
What ‘old’ practice endorsed by Arnold Schwarzenegger interests Seth Rollins?

Speaking to Satin, Rollins revealed how his wife Becky Lynch compelled him on joining Threads as an alternative to Twitter. He claimed that Twitter was full of negativity, especially to female superstars, and it forced his wife to stay off it.
However, Rollins further stated that none of the social media applications interest him. The 37-year-old said, “I am like, ‘One more social media app! Where people tell things they don’t care about for two seconds.’ Just like I said, I am like a crotchety old man. I am like this close to getting rid of all of it. I am over. I am just done with it.”
He further stated how he just needs a newspaper and wants to read it instead of following social media. Interestingly, Rollins’ views had an uncanny similarity with Schwarzenegger’s views as well. After the WWE champion was done with his opinions, Satin added that he once read how Arnold Schwarzenegger follows the newspaper for important news.
Both Rollins and Schwarzenegger are two of the biggest names in their respective fields. Their views on social media showcase their matching mindsets on a prevalent issue. Both ‘The Visionary’ and ‘The Austrian Oak’ revealed their desires of following a newspaper for the latest updates, instead of engaging and participating in the polarizing world of social media.
Nevertheless, The Visionary’s point of social media having an adverse effect on superstars, especially female stars hold weight. Recently, a popular female superstar deleted her Twitter account for a while after receiving negativity from the wrestling community.
Shotzi deletes Twitter after taking backlash amidst a fragile state of mind
The SmackDown superstar got the chance of a lifetime when she participated in the women’s ladder match at Money in the Bank 2022. She came close to realizing her dream by capturing the briefcase but ultimately was unsuccessful in her pursuit. Liv Morgan ultimately secured the bag for herself on a historic night.
Nevertheless, after the match, many fans lambasted Shotzi on Twitter for her poor performance in the prestige match. Several wrestling fans voiced their opinion that several of her planned spots did not go as planned. The 31-year-old star did not want to feed the negativity and promptly deleted her Twitter account as a result. She ultimately released a response on her Instagram story, explaining her decision.

“I appreciate everyone checking on me but I swear I’m fine. I have been going through the toughest year of my personal life so it’s deeper than nasty comments, but also Twitter has not helped with my already fragile mind state. Just trying to stay motivated and positive. I am focused on my goals and not what’s on the internet,” Shotzi said.
Seth Rollins’ point of female superstars receiving more negativity than their male counterparts might hold some legitimacy. A dialogue on the boons and banes of social media needs to be held. Perhaps Rollins’ and Schwarzenegger’s idea of limiting social media and relying on other means for attaining information could be the way forward.
