If anything could’ve topped Vince McMahon’s retirement in 2022, it was his return to WWE earlier this year. While Vince McMahon is staying away from inputs in the creative direction of the company, his comeback has already led to an upheaval in the status quo. The reason behind his return was reported to be a potential sale of the wrestling empire and new media rights deal negotiation. McMahon’s stunning return to WWE’s board of directors means he holds the key to any of these deals going through as the majority shareholder.

But according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McMahon’s involvement in the company is being seen as an hindrance rather than a help. Moreover, Meltzer also provided a breakdown of how much money would Vince McMahon and other top names pocket if WWE gets sold . A big name missing from the list is Vince McMahon’s son Shane McMahon.

Shane McMahon’s departure from WWE

WWE quietly let go off Shane McMahon last year after the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event. He received heat backstage for his planning of the Men’s Royal Rumble match. He tried to book the match in his own way. Since then, Shane McMahon hasn’t featured for WWE and as such his status as share holder within the company is ambiguous. A sale of WWE may yet be far away, but if and when it happens, expect a lot headlines.
