With the merger complete, UFC and WWE fans have started to anticipate a crossover between the two shortly. With UFC releasing a game in October, a major update on the game was provided by the game’s developers.

It is known that boxing legends like Fedor Emelianenko, Muhammad Ali, and Mike Tyson will feature as celebrity athletes on the game. However, speculations are that it may also contain new characters from the WWE game. Though WWE 2K holds the license for WWE video games as of now.

Developers provide major updates on WWE characters

The new version of the UFC game by EA will be released on October 27th for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as announced by EA Sports this week. The availability of legendary boxers has been confirmed, but Fightful Select reported an update on WWE characters? availability in the new game.

Fightful Select?s reporter Sean Ross Sapp asked the game?s developers directly about the status of the availability of WWE stars in the new game. Sapp reported, ?EA UFC developers confirmed that they did ask if that was possible, but were told that until the merger is complete, it isn’t likely something that will even be really heavily discussed.?

According to the devs, the game can only feature characters from WWE if the merger between Endeavor and WWE is complete which was completed on September 12th. They announced that Endeavor and WWE have merged to form TKO Holdings for the new venture. Hence, fans can expect new WWE characters coming into the game.

WWE superstars have been part of UFC

From the current roster of WWE Superstars, a few have been a part of the UFC as well. While WWE Champion Brock Lesnar has been a UFC Champion, Ronda Rousey is a UFC legend who transitioned into WWE after retirement. Matt Riddle and Shayna Baszler have also been part of the UFC early on in their career. The other WWE star who has been a part of the MMA circuit is 2-time WWE Champion, Bobby Lashley who was a part of Strike Force.

Due to their prior engagement with UFC, licensing the deals for Lesnar and Rousey for the game was easier. Lesnar has appeared in five UFC games as of now. However, with the merger complete, the process for the others could be more streamlined.
