Nick Khan’s idea to make WWE even more profitable
Last year witnessed a lot of upheaval in WWE backstage. The retirement of Vince McMahon, only to return earlier this year, the Co-CEO role of Nick Khan and Stephanie McMahon and Triple H taking over as Head of Creative. But amidst all this, the wrestling company managed to have its more successful financial year and looks ahead to maximize those gains.

The company CEO Nick Khan revealed they are looking closely into making money off more assets of their show that haven’t been used as a cash-making avenue. This includes monetizing ring assets like the ring apron, mat, ramp, turnbuckles, and other such things. During the WWE’s 4th Quarter earnings call, Khan said, “Yes, to your question about monetizing the ring assets. It’s something we’re taking a deep dive into now and that we want to do.”
As the news broke about WWE wanting to monetize its ring assets, people online began sharing their views. Many, including UFC fighter Terrance McKinney, dropped in their thoughts on WWE, possibly changing its presentation. It is to be noted this is something that the UFC already utilizes for their events.
Nick Khan says WWE wants to monetize ring assets like the ring apron, turnbuckles, ring mats, and it's something they're taking a deep dive. He says they speak with creative and see if it's a reality when they're doing it.

Like the WWE needs more damn money. Who wants to see an ad everywhere they look during a match?!

So they wanna turn the ring into an UFC mat https://t.co/HQg0q7nMne

Oh my god it's going to be a complete shitshow. WWE TV going to look like a NASCAR stock car soon https://t.co/yy0q4k4cGZ

Some fans strongly opposed the idea.
So they trynna copy UFC & WCW (and to a much lesser extent AEW since they're only putting the TV network's logo in the turnbuckles & apron)… I know WWE is money hungry, but do they really need to lessen the viewing experience to make an extra 1 or 2% revenue gain per year?

Terrible idea. Just kinda makes the ring look tacky, plus its not like WWE need the money.
Or are they raising funds for Vinces lawsuit 😂

WWE as a business is doing good for itself and looking at other avenues to make even more money may not be a bad idea. They already took a step in this direction with the Mountain Dew Pitch Black match at the Royal Rumble involving Bray Wyatt and LA Knight. And they could have another brand-sponsored match at WrestleMania.
