Former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar had an impactful run in the UFC. ‘The Beast’ won the Heavyweight title in his third fight. Lesnar took down many established and experienced MMA fighters during his time with the promotion. His tenure in the UFC also saw him lose three times. The first loss he suffered was in his debut match against Frank Mir. He also lost to Alistair Overeem in 2011, after which he left for WWE. However, one of his most telling defeats came against Cain Velasquez in a title match in 2010.

There’s no doubt that Lesnar’s made a name for himself in UFC in a short span of time. The heavyweight fighter was a massive draw owing to his WWE days and he lived up to his billing. Wins over Frank Mir, Shane Carwin, and Randy Couture cemented him as one of the notable fighters of the modern era.

However, during his third title defense, he came up short against Cain Velasquez. Velasquez dominated the fight and won by a TKO. 12 years later, fans still can’t seem to get enough of the mauling handed out by ‘Cardio Cain’ to Lesnar.

Fans mock Brock Lesnar for his defeat against Cain Velasquez over a decade later

It would be hard to imagine a man of Brock Lesnar’s physique being dominated in a fight. ‘The Conqueror’ had found success in the UFC early on. After losing the first fight, he returned and won his next match. He followed this up by beating Randy Couture at UFC 91. He defended the title successfully in two instances, getting the better of Frank Mir and Shane Carwin.

But at UFC 121 in 2010, Cain Velasquez ended Lesnar’s reign with a first-round victory. The match saw a bloodied Lesnar being cornered by Velasquez in a vicious beatdown. Exactly 12 years later, MMA mania reminded fans of this bout.

It looks fans won’t let Lesnar forget this chastening defeat to Velasquez. After this defeat, he would only fight one more time before coming back to WWE. Lesnar did return to the octagon in 2016 to face Mark Hunt, but that match was overturned to be No-Contest as Lesnar failed the drug test.

Interestingly, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ would face his conqueror Velasquez again nine years later, after their UFC bout inside a WWE ring. Brock Lesnar defeated the former UFC Champion on the latter’s WWE debut at the Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia in 2019 for the WWE Championship.
