On Sad Day for Mexican Fighters, Rey Mysterio Gets Rousing Ovation During Rare Public Appearance at UFC 290

The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada hosted the live UFC 290 pay-per-view on Saturday, July 8. WWE legend and Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio was present during the event. He was there to support his Mexican friends, who fought their respective title matches in the event.

Sad for Mysterio, the two Mexican fighters couldn’t win their respective title bouts, but during the event he was met with an arousing ovation from the crowd. When the camera pointed at him, the audience of the T-Mobile Arena gave him a loud pop. Plus, the fans showed the same enthusiasm online as well.

UFC fans love Rey Mysterio

WWE on BT Sport shared a video of Mysterio being amongst the audience for UFC 290. The video showcased a bunch of UFC fighters being ringside, all receiving loud pops from the crowd. But when the camera pointed toward Mysterio, the audience went wild and gave the loudest pop to the wrestling veteran.

As mentioned before, Rey Mysterio was present at the event to support his Mexican friends and UFC fighters Brandon Moreno and Yair Rodriguez, who had title matches against Alexandre Pantoja and Alexander Volkanovski, respectively.

Alexander Volkanovski beat Yair Rodriguez in round three of their match by TKO to retain his UFC Featherweight Championship. With the scores 48-47, 48-47 & 46-49, Alexandre Pantoja defeated Brandon Moreno to win the UFC Flyweight Championship.

It was a sad day for Mysterio and the two Mexican Fighters as the duo lost their respective matches. But one thing that came out well from the event is that now we know that the UFC faithful love the masked wrestler as much as the WWE Universe. Nevertheless, wrestling fans were delighted to learn that Mysterio’s aura captivates all.
