Prior to signing for WWE, Brock Lesnar has made some noteworthy accomplishments in amateur wrestling. During his time at the University of Minnesota, Lesnar won the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship. Just like Lesnar, another individual from the University of Minnesota has won the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship before signing for WWE.

Here, we are talking about Olympic Gold medalist, Gable Steveson. Ever since Steveson signed for WWE, fans have made comparisons between him and Brock Lesnar. During an episode of Beyond the Fight, Chael Sonnen talked about the bond Lesnar and Gable Steveson share.

He also predicted Steveson is going to follow in Lesnar’s footsteps following his WWE debut. Sonnen said, “Even though Gable was a young guy, Brock was in there to get workouts because he’s got the absolute best guy and it’s right here at his alma mater, not to mention it’s the same weight class.”

The former UFC star added, “Brock was an undefeated NCAA champion, went on to become a world champion within the UFC, went on to become the world champion within the WWE. Same steps Gable is following. If you’re trying to guess what Gable is going to do, it’s not a bad thing to look at the guy he looks to.”

Gable Steveson is yet to compete in his first match in WWE. And a reason for that is his college graduation. However, he appeared on WWE television on Night Two of WrestleMania 38, confronting Chad Gable.

The WWE Universe has waited for a long time to see Gable Steveson compete in his first WWE match. But it is worth the wait given the quality Steveson possesses. But will he be able to replicate Lesnar-like success in WWE? That is what some fans will look forward to.

A look at the WWE career of Brock Lesnar so far

Brock Lesnar’s WWE career has been exceptional so far. And very few stars can have so much success in their careers as Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate made his debut on WWE television in 2002. And right from the start, he enjoyed success. In 2002 itself, Brock Lesnar rose to main event status.

Not only did he win the King of the Ring tournament and the WWE Championship in 2002, but he also got the better of top stars like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, etc. After having so much success in his starting years, Lesnar left WWE in 2004 for his football dream.

Though he did not make it big in football or NFL, the Beast Incarnate made a name for himself in the MMA world. He competed in matches in the UFC and even became the UFC Heavyweight Champion once.
