Marquee WWE products stemming from a firm UFC background aren’t new in the world of combat sports. From Brock Lesnar to Ronda Rousey, there’s a handful of big fighters who made a successful transition from the octagon to the squared circle.

However, ever since the blockbuster WWE-UFC merger materialized, no MMA fighter jumped ship into the Stamford-based company. That said, it seems like one such sure-shot transition is looming in the corner with prized UFC starlet, Jorge Masvidal, eying his WWE debut.

38-year-old MMA megastar achieved quite a lot in the UFC field over the years and finally signed off from the octagon earlier this year following his loss to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. Now it’s clear that he’s totally down for redirecting his athletic skills to a new sport and it’s seemingly WWE.

At least that’s what the retired MMA talent told during a candid interview with Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso. ” If the shoe fits, wear it, I’m very busy, but if the compensation makes sense, then let’s do it.”, Masvidal replied in response to a question about his potential WWE joining.

Then he shockingly went on to send a chilling threat to every WWE superstar, saying, ”If I go to WWE, I’ll put a hurting on them every night. I’ll torture them, make life f**** hell for all of them. No one over there can beat me.”

While we still don’t know if he really follows the tradition of other crossover superstars by dipping his feet into the squared circle officially, he’s not totally a stranger to the wrestling universe either.

Back in 2021, he was a part of the AEW storyline where he used to be featured during American Top Team’s feud with The Inner Circle. He once deliberately hurt Chris Jericho, leaving the chance for another AEW alliance slim to none.

Speaking of his WWE connections, the MMA heavyweight had a couple of significant exchanges with Dwayne The Rock Johnson.

Jorge Masvidal shares a friendly bond with the WWE legend Dwayne Johnson

Masvidal, 38, has a pretty good bond with WWE legend, The Rock. In fact, the wrestler-turned-actor was the one who graced his waist with the coveted BMF title four years ago after his monumental victory in UFC 244.

Not only that, The Brahma Bull had a couple of nice words for Gamebred as well. DJ heaped a huge appreciation on him during one of his past interviews, saying Jorge Masvidal is a legend in a real sense. He even foresaw the grand success of the newly minted ‘Gamebred’ and later proved he wasn’t wrong.

In response to the praise, Masvidal also invited the legend to the UFC fight island to celebrate his win against Kamaru Usman in the main event of UFC 251.

Now we need to see if he really ventures into WWE and has a chance to interact with The Rock in the ring (if he returns) at any point in time in the future or not.
