During the 2024 Royal Rumble, CM Punk received a Future Shock DDT from Drew McIntyre, resulting in his final elimination by Cody Rhodes. On the subsequent episode of Raw, Punk publicly announced his injury and his inability to participate in WrestleMania this year.

Currently, CM Punk is in the process of recovering after suffering a triceps tear, but this hasn’t stopped him from attending different events after his operation, and the latest one involved him attending UFC 298 this Saturday, February 17, where he revealed his intention of trash-talking against the Rock.

CM Punk attended the UFC 298 where he talked about the return of the Rock and how it has only helped the promotion and the wrestling landscape. However, Punk also mentioned his desire to continue being the trash-talking Cult of Personality against the Brahma Bull despite his injury. He said, “I’m still kind gonna be in the mix. My mouth still works, so I’m still gonna be able to talk some trash, and I don’t know if you saw the kickoff we did in Vegas with Rock and Roman and Seth and Cody. It was a lot of fun, and I hope to just continue to do that while I’m recuperating because I can always talk trash with the best of them.”

CM Punk was brought into focus by the cameras seconds before the start of the UFC 298 main card and was introduced as a “WWE Superstar and retired UFC welterweight fighter.” It’s unknown if Punk intends to be backstage on Monday on RAW, considering the show is taking place at the same venue. But he did provide an update on his injury in the same interview.

During an interview at the UFC 298 event, the 45-year-old shared his thoughts on missing WrestleMania 40 and offered a rough timeline for his return to competition. He estimated that he would be out for six to eight months. In addition, Punk clarified that he is not in a hurry with his recovery and wants to come back better than ever.

He said, “We’re thinking maybe six to eight months. But I’m not really in a rush to get back to compete. I’m in a rush to get healthy. I’m in a rush to get better, and the sooner I do that, the better I’ll be when I come back.”

Should the estimated deadlines come to pass, Punk could be back between August and October of this year. So CM Punk’s comeback would be past SummerSlam 2024. Although he was unable to compete at WrestleMania, Punk made an appearance at an event a few days ago, where he was seen asking attendees about the possibility of resolving conflicts by punching them in the face. So I guess we can still witness him running his mouth around, as he promised. What do you think? Would Punk be able to return before Summerslam? Or maybe we may get to see him in a different role for the time being? Let us know in the comments.
