After Brock Lesnar’s success in WWE and UFC, there was a huge flux of UFC fighters coming to WWE or AEW or the wrestling industry in general. In the past few years, we have seen Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey in WWE. But another UFC fighter who is making headlines is Paige VanZant. The former UFC fighter chose another route to make a big impact in wrestling by going to AEW, and it seems to have worked.

AEW introduced the American Top Team, the team that VanZant is a part of. VanZant made her in-ring debut in AEW in May at AEW’s Double or Nothing. She surprised everyone by displaying a range of wrestling moves other than just her MMA basics. But now her return is in peril.

Paige VanZant clears the air about her wrestling return

In an Instagram Q&A, Paige VanZant said, “Absolutely (I) will be (back) in AEW. But I don’t have any news on when yet. So stay tuned.” But her wrestling coach told the media that she hasn’t informed him about a return yet. Also, her next BKFC bout is supposed to take place next year in February. After quitting UFC in 2020, VanZant has been looking for multiple options and doing a wide variety of things outside MMA.

She is currently in her bare-knuckle fighting tournament after her wrestling debut, and we can’t wait to see what she does next. The path for former UFC stars is barely limited, but VanZant is striving for a new path in combat sports. While people did say that Brock Lesnar wouldn’t be able to succeed in UFC, he eventually punched his ticket and became UFC World Champion. The same thing could happen with VanZant and she could find her passion in a few years.

But the wrestling fan in our hearts would always want her to return to wrestling. Her debut was amazing and the women’s locker room in AEW could use some heavy-hitting power like VanZant as well.
