UFC legend Daniel Cormier made his first WWE appearance as a special guest referee at the Extreme Rules premium live event. He refereed the Fight Pit match between Matt Riddle and Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins. DC even got physical during the match as he pinned Rollins to the steel cage, warning him not to mess with him. One of the biggest matches that he could wrestle is against former fellow UFC Champion Brock Lesnar.
Although the UFC had almost paved a path for the fight some years ago, it never happened. But now, with both competitors being in the realm of WWE, anything is possible. Cormier shared his thoughts on a potential match against ‘The Beast’.
Daniel Cormier said he needs to get in shape for a WWE match
Daniel Cormier enjoyed a dominant run in UFC, holding both the Heavyweight and the Light Heavyweight titles simultaneously.
Interestingly enough, after winning the Heavyweight title in 2018, DC challenged Brock Lesnar, who was in attendance. Obviously, The Beast made his way to the octagon and shoved Cormier, and the two had to be forcefully separated. But after this, the fans never got to see the two athletes fight off. But now that might happen inside a WWE ring.

After his first WWE appearance at the Extreme Rules PLE, Associated Press asked Cormier about a possible match with Lesnar in the promotion.
He replied, “I’ve been retired for a couple of years and I look like it. But I’d have to get in shape if I ever want to do something like that. The door is not closed on anything right now in my life.”

DC further said that he still believes he has some opportunities and hinted that things to happen fast if he has to pursue them. The former UFC champion stated, “I’m still at an age where there are some opportunities, but those opportunities need to start now if they’re going to be something I pursue.”
This suggests Cormier is up for a match with ‘The Beast Incarnate’ in the near future when he gets back in shape.

Currently, Cormier has no further WWE commitments. But that doesn’t mean WWE won’t look to have him again on its programming soon. WWE would also like to bank on the DC vs Lesnar storyline as there’s no doubt it would be a huge draw. Both he and Lesnar are popular icons in the combat world and if conditions are right, it will be epic and exhilarating to see them face off.
