Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is now venturing into the world of MMA for an upcoming movie. The video of his training is going viral on social media right now. After another success in WWE with WrestleMania XL, the 52-year-old is preparing for a new challenge: playing former UFC star Mark Kerr in the biopic ‘The Smashing Machine.’

Johnson will bring to life the story of Mark Kerr, a two-time UFC Heavyweight champion and Pride FC veteran. To play the part to perfection, he will have to live like the MMA veteran. So in his new Instagram video, the Hollywood star reveals his intense workout routine and his diet for the upcoming project.

The Rock reveals it all in a detailed video

Taking to his Instagram, the Rock uploaded a video where he thanked fans for all the love and wishes he got on his birthday on May 2nd. He also thanked them for showering support on his recent MMA video. So he believed it was his responsibility to reveal the entire process that took place for the preparation of the role of Kerr. The Brahma Bull started by revealing his morning workout. He says, “I wake up in the morning. I do cardio on an empty stomach like I just did when I wake up. I have a little bit of caffeine. Maybe a 100-150 mg, maybe 200. Have some aminos with that and a probiotic. And an hour later I’m doing cardio. Did 40 minutes today of interval cardio. I guess somewhat high intensity.

He continued, “I do 45-50 seconds on the stair master. At level 14 or 15. Then I bring it back down to level 7 or 8. And I’ll recover for the next two minutes. So, it’s basically almost a minute high intensity and then 2 minute recovery. But where you’re keeping a really nice steady state.” But the Rock did not stop there, as he also revealed that he hits the gym again in the afternoon. Johnson said, “I’m done now, I’ll go home, I’ll eat breakfast, I’ll get some more work done. And then I’ll eat again, my lunch. And then I will come back here to the gym and train on the weights and then I’ll have my post-workout shake.”

But while mere mortals like us will get tired after such a hectic workout session, The Rock revealed that after having his meal in the evening; he partakes in MMA training. And the People’s Champ also thanked Dana White, Jon Jones, Dan Cormier, and Jorge Masvidal for helping him with the training. But why such an intense schedule? Well, according to the Rock, it is all to honor the life of Mark Kerr.

The film titled ‘The Smashing Machine’ is produced by the acclaimed studio ‘A24’. And Benny Safdie, known for his work on “Uncut Gems will direct it.” The latter also wrote the script, which has been in development for several years. Notably, Golden Globe winner Emily Blunt will join the cast as Dawn Staples, Kerr’s wife. “The Smashing Machine” promises to be a thrilling film that explores the life and career of one of the most iconic MMA fighters of all time.
