Did Ronda Rousey make the right call leaving WWE, or did it hurt her legacy and net worth?

Following her breakout career in the world of mixed martial arts, Ronda Rousey made her WWE debut at the 2018 Royal Rumble event, where she appeared after the main event and signaled her intention to compete in the company. Her appearance caused quite a stir and marked the beginning of her transition into the world of professional wrestling. In WWE, Rousey has been a crucial bridge between the world of MMA and professional wrestling. Her presence has helped elevate the women’s division, and she has participated in several of the most important matches in the company’s recent history.

Her career includes solid victories against legendary rivals such as Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks. In addition, she also won her first Raw Championship on August 19, 2018, and a month later, she repeated her triumph at Hell in a Cell. In March 2019, Rousey had her first WWE loss against Lynch, ending her championship reign at 231 days but leaving her as the second-longest-serving Raw women’s champion on the throne. This truly proves that the WWE surely saw her as a top-tier talent.

However, Ronda Rousey has gained a lot of notoriety in recent months. On the occasion of the promotion of her autobiography, ‘My Fight, Your Fight’, the former WWE superstar took the opportunity to harshly criticize senior officials of the company, including Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and Bruce Prichard, among others, in addition to accusing fellow locker room partners such as Drew Gulak of inappropriate behavior. Despite this, Rousey remains one of the best female superstars to grace the ring, at least in terms of in-ring skills and the ability to attract more MMA stars toward pro wrestling.

Well, some reports reveal that during her second run with the Stamford-based promotion, the former UFC star reportedly earned a salary of $1.5 million. But if we take the bonuses and merchandise sales into account as well, then the figure goes as high as $2.1 million. Making Rousey one of the highest-paid WWE female wrestlers. However, knowing that she is no longer a part of the promotion, we now know that she is reportedly losing out on a similar figure in earnings.

Ronda Rousey had a golden age a few years ago. According to Celebrity Net Worth, in 2014, she had accrued earnings of 6.5 million. But soon, it became an income of 14 million dollars through several prizes, sponsorships, television appearances, PPV money, and more. One of her great feats of 2015 was defeating Cat Zingano in 14 seconds, and for that, he took a lot of money: 65 thousand dollars for showing up, 65 thousand dollars more for the victory, and a bonus of one million dollars from PPV. However, since she retired from both the UFC and the WWE, it was revealed in a Forbes list of the world’s highest-paid female athletes back in 2015 that Rousey made $3.5 million for endorsements that year.

She has also started giving private lessons on Kickstarter, though they have not received much positive response. Well, it seems like Rousey has made up her mind and has truly left her fighting days behind. She is currently focused on building a career as a writer. In fact, she is about to release her first graphic novel and is even developing the script for a Netflix film about her life. What do you think of the former UFC/WWE talent? Were you a fan?
