Dwayne Johnson is a jack of all trades. After his wrestling career in WWE, ‘The Rock’ now trains in MMA. He has to put himself in the shoes of a professional fighter for his next film ‘The Smashing Machine’. The fighter in question is former UFC heavyweight Mark Kerr. The film focuses on Kerr’s MMA career in the 1990s and his struggle with painkiller addiction. The former UFC fighter won two heavyweight tournaments before suffering an overdose.

The nickname ‘The Smashing Machine’ refers to Kerr, who became known for his brutal and energetic fighting technique. To play the role to perfection, The Brahma Bull took to MMA training, videos of which have been surfacing online for quite a while and gaining praise online. However, a recent video did not receive the same level of love as Johnson fights an opponent way below his weight class.

The Rock is a big fan of sharing updates on social media. And he has been constantly dropping videos of his MMA training for the role of Mark Kerr. In a recent one that he shared on Instagram, he decided to thank his trainers for helping him learn the art of Mixed Martial Arts while also sharing how it is an honor to play Kerr. In the video, he can be seen sparring with his trainer, who is way smaller than the Brahma Bull.

The caption read, “Working hard and feeling good about my progress so far, but far from satisfied. Approaching this as a total student of the game, absorbing and learning as much as I can, day by day. It’s my absolute honor to pay respect and homage to @UFC & Vale Tudo Heavyweight Champion, Mark Kerr and all the founding fathers of MMA. Our crew is ready to go and everyone’s pumped to start production this week.”

This video truly showed how much the Rock has learned in such a short span of time. From being a footballer to a wrestling legend and now also a novice in MMA, Johnson is surely proving out to be a jack of all trades.

But fans did not take kindly to this video. While they earlier praised Johnson for his intense workout for the film. One that included going to the gym twice before MMA training. The same cannot be said when it comes to his sparring. As the Rock is surely no less than a giant. And in the video, fans can surely see the opponent being half his size. So, wasting no time, fans were quick to call this out.

Fans chastise The Rock for half-hearted means of preparation for iconic movie role

As soon as the video was uploaded, fans were quick to make a mockery of it. Taking to the comments, they were quick to let the People’s Champion know that dominating the opponent in the sparring video is no colossal task when the rival is half your size.

Dudes half your size my friend.

Why he’s so much smaller than you?

This is not your weight partner. 😁😄

Some were even harsher when it came to giving the Brahma Bull a reality check. They were quick to notice that even the opponent was trying to make the Rock win. Something that would surely remind people of Steven Seagal and his Aikido matches.

He’s just letting the rock win 🤣🤣🤣

Well, it sure looks like Dwayne Johnson needs to work harder to impress his fans. After all, the project is close to his heart and Johnson worked closely with screenwriter and filmmaker Benny Safdie on the film. Emily Blunt is set to play the role of Dawn Staples, Kerr’s wife. In 2002, the veteran’s story was the subject of an HBO documentary of the same name. Critics and fans alike applauded the documentary, which explores the ups and downs of her fighting career in depth. We’ll see if the same will be true for ‘Smashing Machine’.
