The merger between the WWE and UFC has yet to spawn memorable moments. While many UFC stars have shown up ringside at the squared circle, nothing definitive has taken place. Earlier this year, UFC lightweight star Michael Chandler made headlines when he called out Conor McGregor during an episode of Monday Night Raw. The long-delayed fight now has manifested itself for UFC 303 in June. Combat sports fans thought this was the beginning of things to come. Yet nothing substantial had materialized until now.  However, Derrick Lewis shared some exciting news with the upcoming UFC Fight Night in St. Louis inching closer. The 27-12-0 fighter has admitted his interest in going on a WWE run.

Since the merger, TKO has hinted that stars will be crossing over but the winds of change have yet to completely blow over. But now a major transition could take place soon enough. Lewis is best known for his work in the UFC’s heavyweight division and has been a WWE mark. Now, The Black Beast is set to make his WWE debut. While promoting his upcoming bout with Rodrigo Nascimento on May 11, he was asked about crossing over to the WWE.

Lewis said, “We’re actually in talks right now. We’ve been talking for a few months now. I was supposed to go down there in February to check everything out.” This sparked an online debate about his wrestling name and whether he should choose one. Along with this came the news regarding his finisher.

The WWE Universe goes balls out for Derrick Lewis’ finisher names

Lewis continued, “It’d (my finisher in wrestling) would have to be something like Rikishi, you know?… You might see it. Somehow, I like taking off my shorts.” The nod to Hall of Famer Rikishi lets you know how long Lewis has been a fan of the WWE. Moreover, once the WWE Universe heard this, the rest was history. Taking it to social media, they commented on several potential finisher names.

Since the WWE Universe heard he likes taking his shorts off, all finisher names have been assigned to one region. Moreover, he did credit Rikishi, but he clearly doesn’t have the assets to pull it off.

The finisher could be something like X-Pac and his Bronco Buster. While that was acceptable during the Attitude Era, we are not sure how current WWE would take it.

Despite being a UFC star, his comments on his love for the WWE have fans fixed on his neither region finisher.

While many of these have been hilarious to read, the WWE isn’t well-known in today’s climate for using such moves. They have taken monumental steps to progress further in captivating audiences. Even the low blow has seen a significant decline. Reverting to their age-old antics won’t appease their fans and would undo the great work they have done so far to usher in a new era.

It will be interesting to see how the WWE introduces Lewis to the roster. Could they employ the Ronda Rousey way or establish him as the Next Big Thing like Brock Lesnar? The UFC heavyweight star has a knack for captivating audiences’ hearts. This is evidenced by the fact that his upcoming appearance in the UFC event will be his 11th main event in the spotlight.
